Rumour: GameStop to start selling Steam vouchers

Claims emerging from the US suggest that retailer GameStop is to start selling gift vouchers for Valve’s digital PC games portal Steam.

Kotaku claims to have word of the move from a GameStop source”. It also claims that the decision to stock such cards is a direct result of its own failures to penetrate the digital PC market in a meaningful way.

It alleges that the vouchers will go on sale in the US on May 15th.

Should the news end up being true then it’s fairly safe to assume that the vouchers will make a UK debut before too long – the question is whether entertainment retailers like GAME and HMV will choose to support the initiative.
