Software Sales Monitor: Market dips 19%

The boxed games market value fell to 31.7m this week down from last week’s 39.1m – a change of 18.9 per cent.

Unit sales dipped 14.7 per cent to 1,109,321.

Sales were down partly because there were fewer blockbuster games released between October 29th and November 5th compared to prior weeks. However, the market was up year-on-year.

Sony’s Uncharted 3 was the big release of the week which made it to No.2, one spot below EA’s Battlefield 3. Sonic Generations and GoldenEye 007: Reloaded also hit shelves.

Expect a sales surge next week with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 now on sale. Skyrim and Moshi Monsters also arrive tomorrow (Friday, November 11th).
