Retailers push Mighty No.9 release date back to 2016

Question marks hang over Mighty No.9’s September release date.

Videogamer reports that retailers including Amazon, GameStop and Walmart have all changed their release date for the physical version of the game from September 2015 to 2016.

When questioned, publisher Deep Silver chose not to comment on the news.

Mighty No.9 is being made by Keiji Inafune and is being sold as a ‘spiritual successor’ to Mega Man. It successfully raised a whopping $4m way back in October 2013. Despite smashing its $900k target, however, it then controversially went on to seek a second and third round of crowdfunding the following year.

Earlier this month crowdfunding also kicked off for not only a Mighty No.9 live-action film but also another Mega Man successor.

As it stands, Mighty No.9 is due out on Xbox One, PS4, Wii U and PC this September, with 3DS and Vita versions to follow.
