Rumour: Microsoft to allow indies to self-publish

Microsoft may be in the midst of revising its policies against self-publishing XBLA games on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

An unidentified European studio with a long and proven track record,” told Gamereactor that it’s currently in talks with Microsoft regarding self-publishing on Xbox Live.

The updated policy allows the smallest indie developers to compete with larger, independent studios – something that apparently will keep the latter from simply [publishing] anything they produce as Microsoft wants to keep from flooding the market with software.”

An unspecified selection process will also reportedly be involved.

The studio added it was also in talks over cutting the cost of devkits for select developers. The current price runs $10k.
