Sony rebrands its online services

As of today Sony has gathered its numerous online services under a new, single brand – Sony Entertainment Network.

It will incorporate all of the company’s online services across its gaming, music and video divisions, CNET reports, and brands such asthe PlayStation Network, Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited – that, incidentally, appears to have replaced the Qriocity branding.

How safe the PlayStation Network branding is remains to be seen.

It also hopes to entice third parties to offer their products and services, which could well prove a tempting offer seeing as SEN will be available across a range of connected Sony devices.

A website for SEN is already live.

The move will accelerate the integration of hardware, content, and network," Sony’s consumer president Kaz Hirai stated.

"We’re leveraging the biggest asset, the Sony brand, to establish comprehensive, global platorm called Sony Enterntainment Network. The whole of Sony is greater than the sum of its parts.”
