The Wii lives on in America

Nintendo has confirmed that American retail will continue to be supplied with Wii consoles.

MCV reported earlier this week that a message on the Wii page of Nintendo’s Japanese site confirmed that production of the console had ceased in the region.

However, that does not reflect its fate elsewhere.

"The announcement that the Wii console has been discontinued is specific to Japan," an NoA rep told GameSpot. "There is no change in the status of Wii in the United States, and it is available for purchase this holiday season."

MCV has asked Nintendo UK about the situation in this neck of the woods.
