Tiger captures Ryder Cup licence

Publisher EA has swooped to secure the Ryder Cup licence for use in the upcoming Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, it has been confirmed.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy has been drafted in as the face of the European team, with Ryder Cup fan Tiger Woods providing the US face. As well as offline play, a Ryder Cup mode will also be available for online players on Xbox Live and PSN with up to 24 gamers competing head-to-head.

The game has also been given a UK release date of July 2nd – a few weeks later than the June 11th date that had been previously speculated.

This is a huge honour for me to be the on the cover with Tiger Woods as I grew up idolizing Tiger,” McIlroy stated.

The Ryder Cup has always been my favourite sporting event and the tournament is being played at The Celtic Manor Resort in Wales in 2010. Also, I’m hopeful to have an opportunity to represent the European team later in the year – it’s all very special.”
