Unity now supports New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL

Unity has rolled out support for Nintendo 3DS XL and New Nintendo 3DS.

Unity confirmed the news in a blog post, which states the announcement was made during the keynote speech at Unity’s Unite 2015 Tokyo event.

Unity announced engine support for Nintendo’s Wii U console back in 2012, but at the time said it had no plans to implement support for 3DS. Less than three years later, the company has changed its tune:

[The Nintendo 3DS platforms] open the door for tens of thousands of studios and over 4m developers using this Unity development platform to bring exciting new mobile and social games, introduce their amazing existing games to a new audience and create new games using innovative functions of the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL system.”
