VG247 appoints new editor

Video games consumer site VG247 has a new editor.

The site has confirmed that Matt Martin, the former editor of GamesIndustry.biz which is owned by VG247 affiliate Gamer Network, is to take over from current editor Patrick Garratt.

Garratt becomes VG247’s publisher. Dave Cook remains as deputy editor.

Bringing Matt into the VG247 editor’s role is a great move for us, and signals the site’s strengthening reach and importance,” Garratt stated. I’m very proud to reach this point with VG247, and am looking forward to working with Matt and the rest of the team on further building our business in 2014.”

Martin added: I’ve been a big fan of VG247 since day one, so it’s an honour to finally join one of the most relentlessly hard working teams in video games media.

After the site’s incredible growth last year, it’s the right time to push harder to increase the quality and reach of VG247 so it stands in its rightful place – setting the agenda for online games media and championing the vibrancy and success of the games business worldwide. And we’re going to have a lot of fun doing it.”
