Video: Square Enix announces mobile title Deus Ex Go, coming out this summer

Deus Ex will be the next Square Enix property to receive the ‘Go’ treatment.

The publisher has announced that the title will be launching on mobile devices this summer.

The ‘Go’ games are a sub-series by Square Enix that brings some of the company’s biggest franchises to mobile. The first Go title was Hitman Go, which launched in 2014, and simplified the complicated stealth assassination to a touch-controlled board game.

A follow-up – Lara Croft Go – was announced at E3 2015 and was launched to critical acclaim.

While only currently announced for mobile, it’s possible the Deus Ex Go will come to console following Hitman Go’s PS4 and Vita launch earlier this year.

This isn’t the first time Deus Ex has come to mobile devices – in 2013 a spin off for 2011’s Human Revolution called Deus Ex: The Fall came to iOS before launching later on Android and Steam.

With Deus Ex Go, we really want to take the Go series to another level. Building on the learnings of Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go, our goal is to push the experience a step further in terms of visual treatment and game design in order to bring you a fresh, reimagined puzzle experience that celebrates the franchise.” said Square Enix Montreal studio head Patrick Naud.

Our team has also been hard at work designing a smart, game-changing new feature that will allow you to expand your game experience: the puzzle maker.”
