VIDEO: Tekken 7 announced at Evo Championship

Bandai Namco has officially announced new fighting title Tekken 7.

A trailer for the game, as seen below, was debuted yesterday at the 2014 Evolution Championships. It is being built using Unreal Engine 4.

The Tekken franchise is beloved and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with the talented team at Bandai Namco,” Epic’s Japanese boss Taka Kawasaki said.

This marriage is perfect – the most powerful engine in gaming along with one of the most enduring brands in fighting games. We have no doubt that these forces coming together will yield fantastic results.”

The Tekken series debuted way back in 1995 on the original PlayStation and went on to become one of the system’s defining 3D titles.

In 2002 it made the move to PS2 via Tekken 4. Tekken 6 became the series’ only PS3 outing in 2009, while its arrival on Xbox 360 that same year also marked its non-PlayStation debut.
