Warren Spector returns to development, leading System Shock 3 team

The man behind some of the most iconic PC games of the 1990s is to work on a follow-up to one of his most influential projects.

Designer Warren Spector helped craft franchises including Wing Commander, Thief and, most notably, Deus Ex. He also served as the producer of System Shock, the sci-fi RPG that went on to inspire BioShock, as well as the original Deus Ex.

Now the developer has announced he is to step away from his current role at the University of Texas to return to full-time development, working on OtherSide’s follow-up to one of the franchises he helped to create nearly two decades ago: System Shock 3.
