Wii web browser set free

Nintendo has announced that the Wii-specific Opera web browser will from now on be free to download for all owners of the console who are connected to the internet.

Until today, anyone not quick enough to grab the download for free in the weeks after its release has faced paying out 500 Wii Points to get their console browsing the net or using the Wii version of BBC’s iPlayer.

Furthermore, the platform holder has said that anyone who had previously paid for the software will get a NES game (also worth 500 Points) for free from the Virtual Console service.

Details of this will be announced in October.
