Dark Souls III has a Japanese release date

Bandai Namco has confirmed an exact release date for Dark Souls III in Japan.

The game will hit both PS4 and Xbox One on March 24th, Gematsu reports. Pre-orders will net a soundtrack and physical map.

So far there’s no word yet on whether Western gamers can expect the same, but it seems highly likely. What is possible, however, is that the PC version will release a little later. Dark Souls II arrived on PC a month after its console debut, while the first game saw almost a year pass between releases.

Also confirmed is a network test for the PS4 version, which will take place in japan between October 16th and 18th.

The RPG sequel will retain a number of features introduced to the series in DSII including fast travel and the ability to respect characters. The lessened weapon durability of the second game, however, will be reduced to bring it more in line with the first.

The game’s summoning and invasion mechanics will remain largely the same, however, and not shift over to the generally unpopular systems introduced in Bloodborne.
