Angry Birds developer Rovio turns publisher

Rovio Entertainment, creator of Angry Birds, is set to broaden its footprint in the games industry by entering the game publishing space, PocketGamer reports.

Rovio is one of the world’s most popular games companies, with its games witnessing a staggering 263 million active users in December.

It’s no surprise then that the Finnish company is looking to leverage that massive user base by opening its doors to third-party developers.

The first game to come out of Rovio’s publishing business will be Tiny Thief, a PC/iPad stealth puzzler from Spanish developer 5 Ants, which is set for a May release.

Here’s a trailer for Tiny Thief.
