Apple is drawing more attention to indie games with a new page dedicated to its selection of noteworthy iOS titles developed by indie studios.
The iTunes Store now includes the Indie Game Showcase page, as spotted by Shacknews.
The showcase page currently features Device 6, along with developer Simogo’s other titles, such as Beat Sneak Bandit and a few of the dev’s personal favourites as well.
Apple’s page explains that the showcase aims to “celebrate a popular game and its creative team, highlighting the developer’s titles along with their favourite games from other studios.”
A schedule for the showcase isn’t know, but it appears to be a week-long promotion.
Indie games have found their way to much greater mainstream appeal on mobile an tablet platforms. Titles such as Flappy Bird and Angry Birds both starting out as unknowns before snowballing into phenomena. Meanwhile, titles like Superbrother and Minecraft: Pocket Edition have found an audience among those that crave a more cerebral experience.
