Former mobile publisher CEO heads up operations at Total War studio

Creative Assembly hires Thumbstar’s Gareth Edmondson

UK-based developer Creative Assembly has recruited Gareth Edmondson, who was previously CEO at mobile publisher and distributor Thumbstar Games.

Edmondson takes on the role of chief operations officer, replacing Martin Servante who leaves the studio after nine years. Servante moves on to become SVP of strategy, business planning and development services at Creative Assembly’s parent firm Sega.

Prior to his time at Thumbstar, Edmondson was managing direction of Driver creator Reflections Interactive, which was later purchased by Ubisoft.

“The prospect of working for one of the most respected studios in the business, with such tremendous development calibre, is a huge privilege, especially in a role which will enable me to provide strategic direction, whilst driving innovation,” he said.

“I am very much looking forward to getting fully integrated and back to the business of making games.”
