Crytek employs former Mail.ru manager

Crytek has hired the former general manger of Mail.ru Games, Ilya Mamontov, to be its new director of games operation.

Mamontov’s LinkedIn page shows he departed the games division of the Russian ecommerce firm in March after spending more than four years at the company.

Mamontov joins Crytek at time when the German developer is moving its focus towards online games, such as Warface, its free-to-play FPS that has so far attracted more than 25 million users. Mail.ru also published the title in Russia in 2012.

Crytek has been recruiting for a number of positions at its UK and Frankfurt offices lately. Its UK studio, located in Nottingham, is currently working on a sequel to FPS Homefront.

Mamontov has previously worked as a publishing director at Astrum Online Entertainment and in localisation while at Buka Entertainment.
