The Chinese Room's new game about the aftermath of the apocalypse debuts in Cologne

Dear Esther creator’s next game will debut on PS4

Dear Esther developer The Chinese Room is working on new interactive tale and has partnered with SCEE to debut the title on PlayStation 4.

Its latest game, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, was introduced at Sony’s Gamescom press conference by Michael Denny.

The announcement trailer showed slow panning shots of deserted forest and a radio message warning survivors to stay indoors.

No other details were shared, but the trailer itself and the studio’s last game suggest that game will be narrative-driven and heavy on atmosphere.

Before the announcement itself, Pinchbeck tweeted that people should keep an eye on the studio’s feed.

The Chinese Room’s last game, Dear Esther, won the 2012 Develop Award for Use of Narrative.
