DICE reveals more about how it is reimagining the popular parkour series

E3 2014: Mirror’s Edge remade from the shoes up

Electronic Arts teased the revival of Mirror’s Edge with a new dev diary from EA DICE.

The studio discussed how it is rebuilding Mirror’s Edge from the ground-up, starting with an 8-bit version of protagonist Faith: red shoes, white trousers, black top and her glove. They then expanded on this to ensure she looks fresh but stays in keeping with the original.

DICE also revealed it has been working with parkour artists to ensure the movements in the game are authentic, exploring what free-runners are able to do as they travel.

Following the prototype footage shown by Criterion, DICE also showed early concept footage of the new Mirror’s Edge.

There was no word on a release date, but it is expected to arrive on next-gen consoles in 2015.
