Studio shrinks as EA moves to digital formats

EA confirms Vancouver layoffs

An unspecified number of employees will be let go from EA’s Vancouver studio, a spokesperson has confirmed.

The publishing giant is shifting emphasis to "high growth digital formats", such as social, online, and free-to-play games.

Speaking to Industry gamers, the EA spokesperson said the changes would only lead to "small numbers" of layoffs.

Citing the example of successful games FIFA Soccer and Need for Speed World, EA said there were many examples of the adjustments being made at the British Columbia studio.
