Geomericsâ?? lighting middleware due early this year

Enlighten 2 offers alternative radiosity solution

Develop has been speaking to Geomerics’ CEO Julian Davis about the company’s new lighting middleware Enlighten 2.

Presenting an alternative radiosity solution to time consuming techniques like placing backlights, or expensive options like outsourcing, Enlighten 2 provides developers with the ability to edit lighting in real-time and then bake it out in a short period of time.

“We’re still selling Enlighten 1 but some of the people who are buying it will ship their games with Enlighten 2,” explains Davis, who also confirms that the first release to use the technology isn’t expected until the end of 2009. Enlighten 2 is due to launch early this year.
