EverQuest virtual item sales double after going F2P

Virtual item sales for Sony’s fantasy RPG EverQuest have more than doubled since the MMO went free-to-play last month.

Sales increased by 125 per cent, whilst unique log-ins have also risen by 150 per cent.

Sony also revealed that since adopting the freemium model, concurrent usage was up 40 per cent, and that 3.5 times more users had registered for the game.

The exact usage figures were not released however.

Despite moving to free-to-play, customers still have the option to subscribe to the MMO for extra perks such as new character classes.
