German developer aims to diversify portfolio and develop for new platforms

Ex-King game director heads up Goodgame’s new casual team

Goodgame Studios has hired former King exec Daniel Persson to head up its new casual games development team.

Persson previously worked as head of studio and game director at King’s Malmo studio, working on titles such as Pet Rescue Saga. Now leading Goodgame’s casual team, the company will release its first puzzle title later in the year. Further projects by the newly formed team are also in the pipeline.

Goodgame said the move was part of its plans to diversify its product range. It also aims to develop for new platforms outside of mobile and browser.

"I am pleased that the new studio structure has enabled my team to maximise its creative potential and to dynamically progress the development of our first project,” said Persson.

“In order to sustain our growth momentum, we are looking at expanding our studio by hiring experts from varied fields who can add value to our studio. We want to break new ground in the field of casual games and develop innovative and entertaining products.”

Goodgame has traditionally developed strategy and simulation titles for browser and mobile, including Goodgame Empire, Goodgame Big Farm, Shadow Kings and Goodgame Café.
