Helsinki-based studio brings in Rovio exec as VP of marketing and communications

Finnish games start-up Seriously raises $2.65m

New Finnish game developer Seriously has raised $2.65m in a Series Seed B funding round.

The investment was led by Sunstone Capital, Upfront Ventures and Daher Capital. To date the studio has raised $5m.

As well as receving new funding, Seriously has appointed former Rovio exec Philip Hickey as VP of marketing and communications.

Two new advisors have also joined the board of directors, including ex-Warner Bros Worldwide Consumer Products president Dan Romanelli and Rhythm New Media co-founder Ujjal Kohli.

Game artist Petri Räsänen, who previously worked at Rocketpack, rounds up the new hires.

Based in Helsinki, Seriously was set up by former Rovio execs Petri Jarvilehto and Andrew Stalbow. The studio is currently working on its first title, due for release later this year.
