Industry veteran Ron Powers joins puzzle developer

Former Popcap exec now Hipsoft CEO

Popcap’s former senior director of franchise business management, Ron Powers, has been appointed CEO of Hipsoft.

Powers brings a wealth of experience and before his time at PopCap -spanning from 2008 through its acquisition by EA in 2011 – he worked at Oberon Media as VP of developer relations and business development, working on franchises like James Patterson, Merv Griffen Crosswords, and Agaha Christie.

"I look forward to the challenges and victories that lay ahead,” said Powers.

“I feel very fortunate to have been part of two great leadership teams in the gaming industry.”

“Those experiences have given me confidence in navigating businesses through changing times and I’m grateful that the Hipsoft founders felt the same way. We have a lot of work to do and we need to invest wisely, but the opportunities are out there and I intend to find them."

Hipsoft is best known for puzzle games like Flip Words and the imaginatively titled Puzzle Express, and company owner Bryan Bouwman is happy to have someone with Powers’s experience on board.

"Ron brings the exact skills we need to be successful in the rapidly changing industry," said Bouwman.

"He is the perfect fit for HipSoft and we are incredibly excited that he has decided to join us."
