Former THQ, Sega and Atari vet Timothy Campbell to lead arm as senior VP for games

Gameforge creates games division to double-down on US market

Gameforge has restructured in an effort to boost its presence in North America.

The free-to-play and MMO specialist has introduced a brand new games division.

The move would help ‘unify and streamline’ development, the firm said, as well as increasing its publishing outreach in the US.

Gameforge previously brought digital trading card game Hex: Shards of Fate to North America, as well as partnering with US publisher Robot Entertainment for spin-off title Orcs Must Die! Unchained.

Former THQ, Sega and Atari veteran Timothy Campbell will head up the newly-formed group as senior VP for games.

Campbell joined Gameforge in 2010, before becoming a member of the company’s executive board last year.

“The free-to-play market has grown rapidly over the years – there are a lot of established studios and publishers who have recognised the advantages of the model and are now trying to gain a foothold in this sector,” he said in a canned statement.

“For us, this means we need to consistently make good use of our experience and transfer it to new markets and platforms.

“To do so, we have created a structure and environment in the games division where our talent can really bring their abilities to bear.”
