Limited time deal offers Proffessional edition of popular cross-platform tool for $50

GameMaker Studio Standard available for free

YoYo Games is now offering free downloads of GameMaker Studio Standard and upgrades to the ‘Professional’ version at a cut price of $50.

GameMaker is one of the best entry-level cross-platform game making tools out there, allowing fast and easy code-free game design, and usually costs $50.

There has always been a free version of GameMaker, but the resource caps in place make it practical only for use with prototypes.

The blog post announcing the news has received so much traffic that the site admins had to add another 12GB of RAM to the server.

Unfortunately the upgrade to the standard edition isn’t free on Steam, so users who got their copy through Valve’s newfangled software service will have to download it again directly from YoYo Games.

Those who already bought a direct-download copy of the Standard version or just want to take advantage of a great deal should definitely consider upgrading to the Professional edition while it’s still priced at $50, as neither of these offers are likely to last long.
