200,000 years of game time accumulated since release, claims Rovio

‘Half a billion downloads’ for Angry Birds

Smash-hit game Angry Birds has been downloaded over half a billion times across various platforms, developer Rovio has announced.

The entertainment media company said this made the title one of the most downloaded games in history.

"This is a fantastic landmark achievement for us, and we’re extremely delighted to see such an incredible amount of people enjoying our games," said Rovio CEO Mikael Hed.

"We remain committed to creating more fun experiences and bringing exceptional quality to Angry Birds Fans everywhere."

The developer said that the game had been played for a total of 200,000 years, with 300 million minutes of playing time daily.

It also said that 10 million Angry birds toys have been shipped worldwide, whilst its YouTube channel Rovio Entertainment had been viewed 200 million times.

The franchise has been deemed such a success that Rovio is also close to opening its first Angry Birds shop in Helsinki, Finland, and is also planning to open up stores in China.
