Former Climax Studios director and indie dev joins as executive creative director

Her Story creator Sam Barlow joins interactive video firm Interlude

Sam Barlow, the developer of critically acclaimed FMV-driven murder mystery Her Story, is to lend his expertise to an interactive movie studio.

He joins Interlude as executive creative director, and will lead the creation of new experiences that utilise interactive video.

Among Barlow’s first projects will be an original short inspired by the cult 1980s movie WarGame, plus a new series set to premiere on Interlude’s Eko network.

“I felt that we were on the same journey,” Barlow said of his decision to work with the company (via Variety). “Our dream is personalised, reactive stories with a heightened emotional impact.”

“Sam Barlow is the very best in the field of combining gaming and video to evolve a new kind of entertainment,” said Interlude CEO Yoni Bloch.

“We are very excited to have him join us to help envision the future of entertainment.”

Before releasing Her Story last year, Barlow worked at Climax Studios, contributing to titles including the acclaimed Silent Hill instalment Shattered Memories. He released his first independently-developed title, Aisle, in 1999.
