Future Games of London’s latest release also rips apart mobile records for Ubisoft

Hungry Shark World gobbles up 10m downloads in first week

The newest game from Ubisoft’s UK mobile studio, Hungry Shark World, has surpassed 10m downloads worldwide within the first seven days.

The title was developed by Future Games of London and sees players controlling a shark as they scoff their way through schools of fish, larger sea creatures and even unsuspecting beach-goers.

Hungry Shark World’s success has even smashed previous Ubisoft mobile titles, making this the publisher’s best launch on smart devices to date. In addition to the 10m downloads, the game also hit No.1 on iPad and iPhone in over 100 countries.

The Hungry Shark series has been downloads more than 250m times around the globe.

"The team here at FGOL are extremely chuffed to see Hungry Shark World launch so spectacularly well, hitting Number 1 in over 100 countries this weekend,” says Future Games of London MD Ian Harper. “It’s a testament to our players’ appetite for Hungry Shark that there was strong demand from the moment we went live.

“In the week leading up to launch, we saw well over 1 million players sign up for pre-registration and we’re incredibly happy with the result. We’re now focusing on bringing those players more exciting new surprises and challenges in the game.”
