Jade Raymond to be presented the Vanguard Award at the Develop Awards this July in Brighton

We’re delighted to announce that Jade Raymond is the Develop Awards 2018 Vanguard Award winner. This prize is bestowed on someone who “has blazed a trail in games development in recent years that will inspire others to follow them – be that in a commercial, creative or technological sense.” Considering Raymond’s incredible career so far and her push for diversity and creativity within the industry, we feel she is perfectly placed to receive such an accolade.

Jade Raymond is one of the most visible and exciting faces in games development today. Having made her mark at Ubisoft on Assassin’s Creed, she now leads EA’s Motive Studios, working on an unannounced Star Wars title. We’re incredibly excited to be honouring Raymond at the awards this year. The Develop Awards take place on Wednesday 11th of July at the Hilton Brighton Metropole.

Keep an eye out for the next issue of MCV for an exclusive interview with Raymond, in which she discusses the founding principles of EA Motive. Namely creativity, inclusivity and diversity. We’ll also be posting it online for everyone to check out before the week’s over.

Raymond will be present at the Develop Awards to receive her prize, having given the Develop:Brighton day two keynote. Titled Industry Vanguard Jade Raymond Talks About Her Past and A Galaxy Far, Far Away,“ Jade will talk about her career, which began as a programmer for Sony, her journey so far as a developer and her views on the future for her and the industry”, according to the official keynote description.

“It is with great pleasure we announce Jade Raymond as our day two keynote,” says Andy Lane, managing director of Develop:Brighton organisers, Tandem Events. “Jade is one of the most respected developers in today’s global market. She has worked for some of the biggest companies in the industry, creating some of the most successful franchises and her keynote will be a unique opportunity for Develop:Brighton delegates to learn and gain insights from an industry legend.”
