The Auckland chapter of next year's Global Game Jam will be hosted once again by the downtown campus of the Media Design School.

Media Design School to host Auckland Global Game Jam

The Media Design School is an important cog in the New Zealand game development sector, with Stephen Knightly of the IGDA New Zealand reporting that 100 per cent of graduates from the country’s major game design degrees are finding employment, and that there’s still a shortage of talent on top of that.

The School will be opening its doors on 23rd-25th January to accommodate the anticipated 100+ jammers, which is the target after 88 participants joined in the event last year.

“New Zealand’s time zone means that we are always one of the first sites to kick off the Global Game Jam each year, which makes our game jam especially exciting for gamers domestically and internationally,” said Tece Bayrak, organiser and Game Programming Lecturere.

“This is the fourth year in a row that we’ve hosted the Auckland chapter of the Global Game Jam and we’re confident that it will be bigger and better than ever before.”

The jam attracts some 23’000 plus attendees globally each year.
