Natural Motion’s art chief joins Nordeus

Experienced artist Daryl Clewlow has been appointed as the new head of art for Top Eleven developer Nordeus.

Clewlow’s hiring follows the departure of art director Aaron Magpayo earlier this year, following his move to mobile and online publisher Spil Games.

Clewlow started in the film industry, working on films including Star Wars: The Phantom Menance and Event Horizon, before transitioning into games.

He has previously held positions at studios including Free Radical, Rebellion, Core Design and Blitz.

Most recently, he served as head of art at NaturalMotion, leading work on games such as Clumsy Ninja, CSR Racing 2 and Dawn of the Titans.

Nordeus said Clewlow would help it achieve ‘triple-A-quality art on mobile’ across multiple new projects. He will also help bolster the developer’s art team ranks.

Nordeus recently spoke to Develop about the unusual training strategies – including life drawing classes – it employs to refine its artists’ skills.
