Nintendo to use new video compression tech in upcoming games

Nintendo buys video codec provider Mobiclip

In a deal that took place last October, Nintendo aquired the French video technology company Mobiclip.

Nintendo plans to use this technology to provide high quality video with low battery consumption for upcoming games on the Wii and Nintendo 3DS.

The news, reported by Gamasutra, has just been made public knowledge.

Mobiclip have provided their technology to Nintendo in the past for a variety of platforms, and have offices in Paris, Tokyo, Singapore, and California.
