New partnership with Games Workshop sees Leamington studio developing Warhammer 40k: Freeblade

Pixel Toys secures Warhammer licence

UK start-up Pixel Toys has become the latest studio to get its hands on the Warhammer licence, announcing a new title for the popular 40k universe.

Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade will be a mobile shooter and combat title in which players battle enemies as an Imperial Knight. This will be the first mobile game to feature the popular war mech.

Pixel Toys, best known for its mobile zombie shooter Gunfinger, says it is working to ensure this is the most detailed, graphically impressive mobile Warhammer title to date.

"Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade signals a real step-change for Pixel Toys," said co-founder and CEO Andy Wafer. "We’ve gone from a two-man standing start in September 2012 to become a fully-formed studio, employing a team of 15 alongside contractors, and seen revenues grow year-on-year while remaining profitable.

"With Freeblade, we believe we have something really special that will be a new high for Warhammer mobile gaming. Fans have never seen 40k’s futuristic troops, creatures and vehicles of war in combat like this before on any mobile platform."
