Two-day mobile event leads into main GDC

Plans build for GDC Mobile 2008

While CMP has started to flesh out the details of the other two-day events taking place on February 18th & 19th as part of the week-long GDC, momentum is still building behind its GDC Mobile event.

Also taking place on February 18th and 19th, the two-day, multi-track event is pitched as the ultimate event for the mobile games sector, and last week published its roster of featured speakers.

Key speakers already confirm include: John Szeder, CEO of Mofactor; Mitch Lasky, Partner at Benchmark Capital; Rich Moran, Partner at Venrock; Chip Austin, Managing Principal of i-Hatch Ventures (all four are talking during a special ‘fun in funding’ panel session); David Collier, President of Pikkle KK; Tom Park, Director of Operations for Digital Chocolate; and Rick Marazzani, General Manager of iQ212.

New for 2008 is the Independent Games Festival Mobile Awards, which takes place during the two days.

“GDC Mobile is uniquely positioned to bring together leading creative and business professionals in the mobile games industry to showcase and brainstorm innovation at both the development and business levels,” said Jamil Moledina, Executive Director, Game Developers Conference.

“We’re also excited to put our thumb on the scale a bit, and reward some of the most ambitious mobile game developers at our first annual IGF Mobile awards.”

Full details including a list of the currently confirmed sessions can be found here.
