Plants Vs Zombies 2 racks up 16m downloads in five days

Plants Vs Zombies 2 has racked up more than 16 million downloads since its release on August 15th.

Speaking at Gamescom 2013, EA COO PEter Moore said the title was the publisher’s biggest ever mobile game launch.

The title has reached number one on the App Store in 130 countries worldwide.

Developer PopCap said it was also already at work on the title’s first major content update, Far Future.

During the conference, PopCap also revealed new details of its console iteration of the franchise, Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare. A special Boss mode, in which a user can deploy zombies and bombs across the map through a birds eye view, will be exclusive to Xbox One. The new mode appears to take advantage of Microsoft’s SmartGlass tech.

THe sequel to its hugely popular puzzle game, Peggle 2, will also be released as a timed exclusive for Xbox One.
