MIGS 2010: And that's why it's a great studio, says 2D Boy co-founder Jon Carmel

PopCap ‘cans half of its games’

Speaking during his keynote at MIGS 2010 2D Boy co-founder Ron Carmel has claimed that PopCap cans something like 50 per cent of its projects before they are completed.

Drawing a distinction between indies as ‘design studios’ and giant development houses as commercial outsfits, Carmel said: "PopCap and Valve are the exception to that rule. They only make great games. They are great design houses"

He later added: "PopCap’s John Vechey once told me that PopCap cans half of its projects. I think that’s great."
