Developers can now use middleware from within engine UI

Texture streaming Granite SDK adds Unity plugin

Graphine has released a Unity plug-in for its texture streaming Granite SDK.

Users of the engine can now use the tool for texture streaming and virtual texturing, as well as the SDK’s texture atlasing and compression features, from within the Unity UI.

The firm claimed the tool offers a reduction in compressed file sizes of up to 60 per cent, and a reduction in memory requirements of up to 75 per cent.

The tech will be on show at next week’s GDC 2014 at Graphine’s booth 242.
