Popular engine also welcomes 60 millionth Unity Browser user

Unity hits 500,000 developers milestone

500,000 developers have now registered as Unity users, doubling the engine’s installed base of customers in just six months.

Of that total over 150,000 are active users, who, the engine provider claims, are engaged in over a million hours of development every month. At the same time the number of consumers to have downloaded the Unity Browser Plugin has passed the 60 million milestone.

"The combination of Unity’s powerful yet approachable technology has resulted in it being the number one game engine used for both traditional and casual games," said David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies.

"It’s exciting to see how our users build on top of Unity to create mind blowing innovation of their own."

Unity is to host the 2011 iteration of its annual Unite conference in San Francisco from September 28th to 30th.
