Strategic partnership will see publishing giant use Unity engine across multiple franchises and formats

Unity inks three-year deal with EA

Unity and EA have agreed a three-year strategic partnership deal that will see the huge publisher using the tech outfit’s engines across a number of franchises and platforms.

The new enterprise license will give every EA studio and developer across the globe full access to the entire range of Unity products for web, mobile, consoles, and other formats.

The deal follows the ‘positive experience’ the two companies shared when Tiger Woods Online was built using Unity.

“We’re excited about and proud of our long term relationship with Electronic Arts. Unity’s ability to straddle from the highest-end productions to the littlest development teams is something we’re immensely proud of,” said David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies. “Our adoption is accelerating on all fronts, and the sky’s the limit.”

EA apparently took interest in Unity’s tech offering because of the engine’s feature set, attracted by its ability to bring titles to consoles, mobile devices, and the web with speed at efficiency at a low price.
