Engine firm goes public with planned releases and updates

Unity Roadmap now online

Unity Technologies has launched an online roadmap, charting the future of its widely-used engine.

This is the first time the firm has made its internal roadmap available to the public and shows its plans for the next six to nine months.

The roadmap is now live at www.unity3d.com/roadmap, and currently shows what is planned for Unity 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4. It also lists planned release dates for each update.

The company also promised to frequently update its confidence levels for all planned features and fixes, giving devs a good idea whether or not something is likely to make the next point release.

The announcement was made by the firm’s Lucas Meijer during the Unite Europe opening keynote in Amsterdam.
