Former Epic boss spending one week per month working at popular engine firm

Unreal’s Mike Capps joins Unity as advisor

Mike Capps, the former president of Unreal Engine creator Epic Games, has joined Unity Technologies.

He takes on the role of internal advisor, and will work with CEO John Riccitiello, the executive team and the core R&D team.

In a blog post on Unity’s site, the firm confirmed Capps will spend “approximately one week per month on Unity”.

“He’s a very strong supporter of Unity’s core principles of solving hard problems so our developers don’t have to, and the movement to democratise game development,” Riccitiello wrote. “He’ll be a huge boon to us in Unity continuing down that path.”

Capps added: “I’m excited to join the team as advisor to the CEO and I can’t wait to help shape Unity’s next chapter.

“Unity is in such an enviable position in the industry. I see so much exciting potential, and opportunities where I might be able to help, that this role was a logical next step.”
