The polemical Facebook game group to explain how it builds success

Zynga to pull the curtain back at GDC Online

A chief game designer at Zynga – the intensely growing social game group that so often is at the centre of controversy – will provide a keynote lecture at this year’s GDC Online show.

Brian Reynolds will be at the event to discuss FrontierVille; a Zynga title that (as par the course) is generating vast revenues and vociferous criticism.

The subject of Reynolds’ keynote will be how FrontierVille was sought to offer something new in the rapidly saturating social gaming market.

GDC Online runs from October 5th to 8th, and the event already includes speaker sessions from the likes of Bungie, Disney and Playdom.

Reynolds himself will be able to draw upon nearly two decades of experience in the game industry, having worked at studios such as Firaxis and Big Huge Games.

Event director Izora de Lillard said social games “are increasingly attracting traditional game developers, while also providing key learnings to leverage social features in all types of games.”

GDC Online is held at Austin Texas. Early bird rates close September 1st.
