EA touts "strong partnership with Nintendo" despite string of Wii U no-shows

Madden NFL 25 has become the latest EA game to skip a release on Wii U.

Last year’s release was made available on both Wii and Wii U, although the last Madden to be released on a Nintendo handheld was in 2011 when Madden formed one of the 3DS’ launch lineup.

Madden NFL 25 follows the likes of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, Crysis 3, Dead Space 3 and Army of Two in skipping Nintendo’s new home console. Upcoming shooter Battlefield 4 is another absentee (and note that Wii U is not amongst the confirmed platforms for Call of Duty: Ghosts, either).

The publisher, however, has stated that it remains committed to the platform holder.

"We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013,” an EA Sports rep told Nintendo World Report. However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future."

EA has released some titles for Wii U, however, including Need for Speed: Most Wanted, FIFA 13 and Mass Effect 3 – although the latter of these has performed very badly at retail.
