New Disney XD show to feature Mario Kart 8

US digital and satellite cable network Disney XD will air an hour-long special featuring Mario Kart 8 competitions next week, Nintendo has revealed.

Dubbed Clash of the Karts: Mario Kart 8, the show is scheduled for December 5th at 8pm in both US Eastern and Pacific time zones.

Clash of the Karts will star eight of America’s “best young gamers” paired with popular Youtube personalities, including AtomicMari, Black Nerd Comedy’s Andre, SethBling, and Strawburry 17.

“We wanted to focus on a single game with this special and have a more intimate event,” Disney XD exec Marc Buhaj told Fortune. “ESports is something that’s blossoming, but it’s still early days…how it’ll be covered for the kids’ audience is still something that remains to be seen.”

The event will mark the second partnership this year between Disney XD and Nintendo, with the latter’s World Championships airing on the former’s station this past September.
