Phoenix1 sign Smash player Duck

The Phoenix1 organisation has bolstered its fighting games lineup by signing Super Smash Bros. Melee player James “Duck” Ma.

Duck was formerly a part of Denial Esports, but has now moved over to Phoenix1 to become the second member of its Smash team. The first member is Smash 4 player Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey who was signed a few weeks back.

“On behalf of everyone at Phoenix1 we want to welcome Duck into the P1 family and wish him the best at the upcoming [CEO Dreamland] event,” said Phoenix1 team owner Rob Moore when speaking to Yahoo Esports. “This continues our strategy of expanding the Phoenix1 brand across multiple games with a focus on young upcoming talent.”

This move sees Phoneix1 commit to Smash, and signal their intent to expand further. The organisation was founded to compete in the NA LCS, and after avoiding relegation last split they set out to expand even further.
