Zenway Productions acquire HOTS team DeadlyKittens

Events management company Zenway Productions has acquired esports organisation DeadlyKittens.

The news broke when the company revealed on their Facebook page that they’d acquired an esports team. More specifically, they note that they’d acquired their ‘first’ esports team, making Zenway’s intentions clear.

DeadlyKittens are best known for their efforts in Heroes of the Storm. DeadlyKittens are the Southeast Asian champs in 2015,2016 and 2017 in the SEA Heroes of the Storm Global Championships.

DeadlyKittens captain, Michael ‘DK Mirr’ Luo, said in a statement: “With Zenway Productions’ support, we have reached another milestone for our team. There is lots of talent in this region to be nurtured and I hope there will be much more support for esports to come in future. We definitely have the skills to make our mark in the global scene.”

Lee Jian Ming, Zenway Production’s founder, added: “With DeadlyKittens’ recent qualifying to represent SEA in Dreamhack, we felt like this would be a good time to do our part in supporting and growing the esports scene here.

“We have close bonds with the Heroes community here in SEA and have watched this particular team grow from strength to strength. I feel that they have the potential to push themselves even further with proper support.”

Heroes of the Storm is an interesting first acquisition for Zenway. Heroes of the Storm has a competitive scene, but it’s not as developed or high-profile as that seen by other mobas. Their next acquisition will say a lot about the company’s plans in the esports space.
