GAME and HMV hold supplier crunch talks

Troubled retailers GAME and HMV have held crucial talks with its major suppliers.

HMV invited its key games partners to its offices earlier in the month in order to discuss how they can better support the struggling entertainment giant. The event was an intimate affair, which publishers in the room have described as ‘progressive.’

Meanwhile, GAME held a much bigger event at BAFTA on Tuesday (February 21st). And almost 90 people attended. According to one source, the Group offered a ‘compelling’ argument and that the talks were "a step in the right direction."

Both retailers are relying on publishers to help them ride the current economic storm that’s hurting their businesses. GAME is operating under a reduced banking facility following a difficult Christmas. And both it and HMV have issues with credit insurers.
